NOTE: Its been some time since I actually made a detailed .hack character. If you find any problems I shall fix those ASAP. Also, yes he is a hacker type character, but nothing on the PC itself is hacked. The only actually hacking Meress does is information stealing from CC Corp.

[/li][li]Characters Personality: MeressXIII has a rather up-beat attitude and can be rather annoying when in a good mood. He likes to think high of himself and often makes himself out to be a bigshot information dealer. He likes to be around people and pops up at the worst times. He is always while to give out information at a cost. He believes highly that as long as he knows something other don't he has the power.

[/li][li]Fighting Style: MeressXIII is more likely to run away from a fight then actually fight. To do so he has two ways of avoiding combat. Offer up free information that might catch his attacker interest, or simply hack himself into an outer dungeon. When hacking in a normal field and not a Lost Ground it takes longer to set the right coding.

[/li][li]Strengths: MeressXIII has focused on speed and Defense. His speed isn't maxed out, but it is his highest feature. Defense is his 2nd highest since he likes to make sure he'll be a hard to target to take down.

[/li][li]Weaknesses: His reflexes are rather slow and it takes him some time to reload the gun when it empties. Stamina is also very low and he tires fast. Strength, like the rest, is low and will take many shot before he can do major damage to an opponent.

[/li][li]Weapon Abilities: Auto Defend (auto blocks any physical attack by an opponent by creating a bobble shield around him for a short time(5 seconds) the minute an attack is made. When using this auto he gets a single freebie per-area. The rest in that area will cost him a 3rd of his SP. The shield itself is large enough to cover Meress' body alone. As it levels up however it will get bigger and stronger.)

He also seemed to have the right information for those he would pay up and with that they most often came to him whenever someone needed to know something. He did have CC Corp. watching him a lot for the amount of he seemed to always have. A few times he was banned from the game, but he always came back somehow.

[/li][li]History: For the longest time Meress has played the World since the 1st game came out. It was cause of the game he started to look into hacking so he could get all the good items from the game with little work. However when he got older he went off to collage and studied computer programming. After which he landed himself a job at a software company Kingdom Corporation.

After 2 years of working for them one of his co-worker gave him a copy of The World R:2. Overjoyed he joined the game the minute he got home only to find out that much had changed. New characters and people who went around PKing others. His 1st day in The World R:2 was ended with his new Steam Gunner getting PKed by some random person.

After that he showed them that he wasn't gonna take it. He logged on and stayed in town spreading fake information about the person that soon had 6 people attacking that one person. After his little revenge mission. Meress started to do what he did best... hacking. He stole a boat of information from CC Corp. under 80 IP addresses and began handing out the info saying, "My friends tell me [insert random piece of information]"

Now Meress is one of the leading info dealers in The World and it seems CC Corp. has given up trying to stop him completely. After the info he does give out is only small stuff in the end.

Hidden Forbidden Hades. The three key words that brought Meress to where stood now. After getting a message about wanting to gather information about bugs in the game, he thought the best place to talk about such things would be the Outer Dungeon, where the eyes of CC Corp. can't follow. As he watched the water from the upside down city before him, two people walked up to him.

"Your MeressXIII, right? We're the game asking about---"

"Hold on! Talking about things so openly can get you banned. Follow me"

He typed in a few keywords and suddenly a vortex appeared before them. Walking in, he waved them over so the two would follow. Once in the Dungeon, the two were aw struck by all of the data flying by their heads and odd monsters roaming around. Meress didn't care. He smiled and carried on. Here he ruled, as it was all pure data that, with the right know how, could easily be edited to what he waned. He can't edit too much however as it would damage the game. Also anything he does change would have to be changed back before he leaves.

"Now then. I'm sending a short-mail with all the info you seek." The two read over his short-mail and grow angry. "There’s nothing new here!"

"Yeah we already know about these bugs! You ripped us off!"

Meress shook his head and folded his arm before explaining to them. "New bugs aren't gonna happen anytime soon. CC Corp. has been real up tight lately and it’s hard to gather anything along the things of what you’re looking for. Put simply though, I gave you what you asked for. I never said it would be new information."

The two started to bring out their weapons. They were pissed and ready to PK him. Before they could however, a Data Monster appeared behind them and slashed them down. Before it attacked him he changed its basic code and it simply walked away. "That was lucky and close. Oh well."

For most of the first half I'd like to see a little more detail, but it isn't overly required. I'd like to know what the tattoo on his neck is for starters.

For strengths, you have good defense. This is something a little ambiguous to me. Does that mean he can dodge, parry, or jsut take hit after hit? Just looking for some clarification.

On to the weapon then. More clarification here too I'm afraid. Does your weapon form a shield? Will it whip from your hands to get in the way of an oncoming attack? Both? Does this include all forms of attack? Spells for instance. Just right up what you want and I'll look over it again.

Alright, I'm going to say yes to getting a dot hack rp sample mainly because it shows us how you use this character. Also, take a gander at the colour coding, makes for easier reading.

Lastly, we may have a word about the information dealing. Technically, we(the mods and admins) are CC corp. and I'm not sure how you'll steal info from 'us' on any grand scale. I'm alright with it being an rp thing seeing as your whole character is based around it, but I'd want you to run anything plot changing by us first. So if you want to tell a group where and how to find the slephnir lucky animal, okay. If you want to reveal the truth of AIDA to the world or know about the lost ones, then run it by us through pms.

Good start. Overall, I really like this, it just needs some fleshing out.
The fighting style could use a little more detail. For example, you say he's likely to run away. How does he do this? Smoke screens? Boring the enemy until they fall asleep? Summoning a hoarde of cuckoos? (nobody wants to mess with cuckoos!) Those were silly examples, but just a little something to say how he does what he does would be best.
Strengths and weaknesses are actually unbalanced in weaknesses' favor. You have three weaknesses and two strengths. Assuming that all of those are equal, you're weaker than you need to be. If this is intentional, that's completely acceptable, I just wanted you to be aware.
Now, still on the topic of strengths and weaknesses, this section could use a little more detail too. I personally don't care if you go into extreme detail with these, I just think that they need some sort of gauge. How strong are your strengths, how weak are your weaknesses?

For the history, I don't have a problem with it.

Offline info is fine as well.

Oh, and you should take another look at the colour coding rules for your rp sample.

Finally, this is just a personal thing for me, but here are a couple spelling mistakes, and places where you're using the wrong punctuation. This is definitely not something that I would deny approval over, just a personal nitpick.

alright, this isn't really me modding this profile (you've already got 2 mods on that) so much as it is a discussion on how you're hacking is going to work. Personally I don't have a problem with giving out simple information that doesn't have a very large impact on the storyline. Things like information on the past, secret quests, or insider info should be fine. The more difficult bits will be important info, such as the current happenings with AIDA, and other story changing tidbits. For anything that you think is a major change, I would appreciate it if you could PM me, just so that I can cross check it with my plotted storyline. Thanks.

Awesome! I think this is much better. n_n

Right now my biggest problem is that you've basically given yourself another power. Being able to hack the game to get information, and being able to hack to get out of fights are two different things.--Not that I'm against being able to hack your way out of a fight, but that if you're going to have it, it should be your custom ability.

Now to your current custom ability. Assuming you want to keep the shield as your ability, there's a couple things that I think are a bit overpowered.
Right now it looks as though you're completely invulnerable to physical attacks for 10 seconds. I love the idea, but for a zero level ability, that's pretty strong.
My suggestions for fixing this up would be:

-Shorten the length by half to start, and add more length or abilities to it as you get more posts
-Keep the length, but add a downside, ex. you can't attack during that time, it takes up a bunch of hp or sp to use, you can't move, etc.

Finally, there needs to be some sort of limit on how many times you can use an ability like this. Does it take a lot of SP to cast, or is there some sort of limit on how many times you can use it in an area?

Those are all just things to think about, but besides those two things I mentioned, I think this is golden. n_n

I know I'm supposed to leave the modding to the two who were here first, but I thought I'd just throw in my two cents. I agree with XIII that if you have the ability to directly affect game code such as monster behavior or character location, that that would have to be qualified under some kind of new power.

On topic of your current custom power however is why I really came here. The idea and concept are good, but they need a lot more fleshing out. An ability that makes you invincible to physical attacks for 10 seconds is really overpowering, especially when there is no limit on how many times you can use it (making you effectively unhurt-able by physical attacks) Also this is powerful in that you can freely attack, cast spells, and move about while its on and physical based opponents are left dumbfounded. Frankly for a 0 post ability it's just too strong. My suggestion would be to make it weaker and then increase its strength over time as your allowance of customs increases (every 200 posts).

Basically just extrapolate on how the ability works, what exactly does it do. How large is the bubble, can it be broken by overpowering attacks, how fast does it activate, do you activate it or is it always waiting for an attack to activate it, how many time can it be used, is there a cost or use limit. These kind of thing will let us moderate the power more easily and allow you to have an ability closest to what you want.

My my... I seemed to have made an error in my 'detail' when adding more detail to what as there. I removed the actual limits it had before and replaced them... anyway this should fix it.

Now about his running away thing. Yes it is hacking, no it is not an ability. It is gate hacking which is against The World laws. I'm very sure it wouldn't be counted as an ability. It is only used to take him to an outer dungeon. Where, only someone in a party with him or another skilled Gate hacker would be able to follow.

Because of that I'm not sure how you wish me to further explain it.

I hope you'll forgive us if we're iffy on the hacking parts. Right now we're still nailing down what good hacker etiquette is, but there is only one thing I want to ask about.

The fact that he can hack the chaos gate to run away from a battle would make actually fighting him really difficult. This is more of an issue to me in terms of story telling because 'I run away' sort of kills the mood. Still, it isn't a horribly large issue otherwise in my mind. Really if you're in most battles, a smoke screen will get you out of it, and what hacker will risk being found out by the admins to run away from some goblins?

I'm fine with that as long as you use it responsibly with the mindset that admins could be monitoring, and you could lose your character 'again' if memory serves.
